Winter Wedding Bouquets: 15 Ideas With the Flowers Named

Most bouquet inspiration stops at the picture. You save it, you show it to your florist, and then neither of you can name what is actually in it. So each of the fifteen ideas below lists its flowers. Take the list, not just the photograph.

A winter bouquet has one job the summer version does not: it has to stay visible when the light goes. December ceremonies often finish in near-dark, and deep reds, plums and greens all collapse toward black in low light. Every bouquet here keeps something pale in it for that reason.

All-white and greenery

1. White roses, baby's breath and eucalyptus

Ivory roses · baby's breath · silver dollar eucalyptus · white ribbon

The safest winter bouquet there is. It photographs cleanly against every dress shade and every venue wall. For a matching bridal party, our White Silk Rose Bridesmaid Bouquets pair white silk roses with baby's breath.

2. White roses with pine and cones

White roses · white hydrangea · pine sprigs · small cones · cream lace ribbon

The same palette as above, but the pine and cones are what make it read December instead of June.

3. White orchid cascade

White phalaenopsis orchids · green hellebore · trailing ivy · pearl detail

Long and dramatic. Best with a simple dress, because the bouquet is the shape statement. Our White Orchid Bridal Bouquet with Pearls is a faux version of this cascade.

4. Frosted white and silver

White roses · dusty miller · silver brunia · white astilbe · grey satin ribbon

The literal winter bouquet. Beautiful in daylight snow, much quieter indoors at night.

Burgundy, plum and deep reds

5. Burgundy roses with ivory and red berries

Burgundy roses · ivory roses · white hydrangea · red berries · burgundy satin and ivory lace ribbon

The ivory here is not decoration. It is what stops the burgundy reading as black in candlelight. Our Winter Wedding Bouquet and Christmas Bridal Bouquet are built on exactly this pairing.

6. Marsala and blush garden roses

Marsala roses · blush garden roses · dried ruscus · cream ribbon

Softer than full burgundy, and easier on a mismatched bridal party. The Burgundy & Dusty Rose Cascading Bridal Bouquet sits in this range.

7. Plum calla lilies with pearls

Plum calla lilies · white calla lilies · pearl pins · aubergine ribbon

Structural rather than romantic. Suits a sleek dress and a modern venue. For DIY, our Real Touch Calla Lily Stems come in a deep purple; the Burgundy Calla Lily Pearl Bridal Bouquet is a ready-made take in burgundy.

8. Black and burgundy, moody

Oxblood roses · burgundy roses · black-toned foliage · ash rose accents · linen ribbon

The darkest look on this list. It needs real light planning, so talk to your photographer before committing.

9. Red roses with holly and spruce

Red roses · holly with berries · spruce tips · cream ribbon

December red done with restraint. Keep the cream ribbon; it does more than it looks like it does.

Warm neutrals

10. Ivory, champagne and gold

Ivory roses · champagne roses · gold-dusted foliage · dried grasses · brass-toned ribbon

Quiet and expensive-looking. Reads as light rather than as color. Our Champagne Ivory Cascading Bridal Bouquet has the gold accents built in.

11. Chocolate, latte and cream

Cream roses · toffee roses · dried palm · raw silk ribbon

Warm without reading rustic, and kind to a bridal party in mixed neutrals.

12. Terracotta and rust with dried foliage

Terracotta roses · rust roses · dried eucalyptus · wheat · copper ribbon

Holds through December in a venue with wood, leather or brass in it. See the Terracotta & Rust collection.

Cool and blue

13. Dusty blue, navy and white

White roses · dusty blue roses · navy accents · thistle · silver dollar eucalyptus

Cool without being cold, because the white does the work. Our Navy Blue Bridal Bouquet and Navy & Dusty Blue Bridesmaid Bouquets cover the whole party.

14. Ice blue and silver

White roses · pale blue hydrangea · dusty miller · glass-bead stems

Best outdoors in daylight. Test it indoors before you commit.

Small and structural

15. A hoop bouquet in winter greenery

Gold hoop · baby's breath · eucalyptus · a single focal rose

Light to hold, easy for a bridal party, and it photographs from any angle. Popular with bridesmaids and flower girls because nobody has to hold it correctly. Our Baby's Breath Hoop Bouquets come in a set of six.

Practical winter notes

Size down, not up. Winter dresses often have sleeves, capes or fur stoles, and a large bouquet fights all three. A bouquet that looked right in a strapless fitting can look enormous over a wrap.

Decide about ribbon length early. Long trailing ribbon is beautiful and blows sideways in winter wind. Short ribbon is safer outdoors.

Name the flowers when you order. "Winter whites" means something different to every supplier.

Why faux works well in winter

Many fresh flowers are out of season in winter, so they are often imported and priced higher. Faux blooms remove the weather risk: they can be ready weeks in advance, they survive an outdoor ceremony in the cold, and they do not wilt between the first look and the last dance. They also come home with you.

Winter wedding bouquet questions

What flowers are good for a winter wedding bouquet?

Roses, orchids and calla lilies work year-round. Hellebores, amaryllis and anemones are classic winter choices, and pine, cedar, holly, berries and cones make any bouquet read as winter.

What colors work best for a winter bouquet?

Deep shades like burgundy, plum, emerald and navy, always with something pale such as ivory or white. Without a light flower, a dark bouquet turns into a dark shape in candlelight and evening photos.

How big should a winter bridal bouquet be?

Smaller than you think. Sleeves, capes and stoles take up visual space, so a compact round bouquet usually looks better than a large one over winter layers.

Will a faux bouquet hold up at an outdoor winter ceremony?

Yes. Artificial flowers do not need water, do not freeze or wilt, and keep their shape in cold and wind.

How far ahead can I order a faux winter bouquet?

As early as you like, since faux flowers do not age in the box. Wedding Day Bloom ships within the US only; allow 6–10 business days for processing and USPS delivery.
